Usb mouse windows vista

I then went down to my computer junk box and pulled out an adapter from USB connection to the older PS2 connection. Works fine now. Just wish they would fix it though. I can't use my new video card since I "upgraded" to Vista either, had to put in my old one. If I keep down grading to keep up with Vista I'm just going back to a typewriter.

I did not try the last solution here yet. I may at a later date, when my blood pressure goes down. Hi again: When I restarted my computer this morning my mouse didn't work again. I guess my solution was a fluke of some sort. I did try Drnitro solution and it works very well. I now have my mouse back. Thanks everyone!!! I have a feeling this could be somehow related to Windows Update, but I'm not sure how. There was this occasion once when Windows Update tried to push out a graphics driver for Nvidia Geforce GT that is about one year older than the current version on the system.

That alone makes you wonder how stupid isn't the Windows Update system? This install of course failed over and over and over again. Until I changed the preference to not install updates automatically, and I hid this moron of an update in the list of available updates.

Before I trash this Windows install and install Windows all over again, do you guys have any ides on how to solve this? If I have to dig into the registry I would be glad to, because I don't care if I brake it, I'm tired of it anyway. And besides, I know how to reinstall Windows, it's just that it's a pain in the butt to have to reinstall every application just because of this stupid problem. There are 4 USB ports. I tried flipping A and B and keyboard worked upon startup from complete power down but the mouse didn't.

I moved the mouse to C and still the same situation, keyboard worked but mouse didn't unless I unplug and plug back in. I powered down once again, and did a started up the computer. This time both the mouse and the keyboard worked. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions. Choose your language settings, and then click Next. Click Repair your computer. Startup Repair might prompt you to make choices as it tries to fix the problem, and if necessary, it might restart your computer as it makes repairs. If Startup Repair is a preinstalled recovery option on your computer: 1. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.

If Repair your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer does not include Startup Repair as a preinstalled recovery option. Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next. Select a user name and enter the password, and then click OK. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I am trying to install windows vista ultimate onto a new amd system I recently built. The windows vista boot up screen starts good, but I cannot go any further with the installation because the keyboard and mouse don't work.

To troubleshoot the problem I booted up with a Linux distro, and I can use the keyboard and mouse and it all works alright.
